Morrison Foerster of counsel Andrew Kissner will speak on the panel, “NextGen – State Owned Enterprises in Distress,” during the International Insolvency Institute’s (III) 26th Annual Conference in Montreal on June 14, 2026 at 12:50 PM – 1:45 PM ET.
The panel will discuss the unique challenges state-owned enterprises (SOEs) present in restructuring and insolvency proceedings, often requiring solutions that depart from traditional insolvency frameworks. Bringing together practitioners and academics from the United Kingdom, European Union, Latin America, the United States, and the Caribbean, the session will examine the legislative, policy, and theoretical frameworks governing SOE restructurings across a range of jurisdictions.
Drawing on experience from high-profile restructurings in Puerto Rico, Peru, Europe, and other markets, panelists will discuss practical considerations and lessons learned when advising borrowers, lenders, and other stakeholders involved in complex SOE restructurings.
The International Insolvency Institute Annual Conference is widely recognized as a premier global forum for insolvency and restructuring professionals, academics, and members of the judiciary. The conference features discussions on emerging trends, cross-border developments, and the most significant issues shaping the international restructuring landscape.
