SIAC Symposium 2026
24 Aug 2026 2:15 PM - 3:45 PM SGT
Shangri-La, Singapore
Yi-Jun Kang, a Litigation Associate in Morrison Foerster’s Singapore office, will speak on the panel “Powering the Region: Arbitrating Energy Transitions and Infrastructure Disputes in Southeast Asia” at the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) Symposium 2026, taking place on Monday, August 24, as part of Singapore Convention Week.
Investment in renewable energy, energy transition projects, and large-scale infrastructure continues to transform Southeast Asia’s project landscape. Against this backdrop, disputes are becoming increasingly complex, often involving multiple parties, interconnected contractual arrangements, technical issues, and heavily regulated sectors.
The panel will consider how arbitration is being used to resolve energy and infrastructure disputes across Southeast Asia, including the procedural tools available under the SIAC Rules 2025 for managing technically complex and multi-contract disputes. Speakers will also examine the practical challenges facing parties in these sectors and consider where existing arbitration approaches are proving effective as well as where limitations remain.
Yi-Jun will be joined by:
- Eri Hertiawan (Moderator), Member, SIAC Court of Arbitration; Head of International Arbitration and Co-Head of the Dispute Resolution practice group at Assegaf Hamzah & Partners
- K. Minh Dang, Member, SIAC Court of Arbitration; Senior Partner, YKVN
- Chanaka Kumarasinghe, Partner - Head of Singapore, Addleshaw Goddard LLP
- Gao Huandong, Group General Counsel, Midea Group
- Kelvin Kek, Partner, Allen & Gledhill
The SIAC Symposium brings together members of the international arbitration community for discussions on developments and issues shaping dispute resolution in Singapore, across Asia, and internationally.
