As we move into the third year of the COVID-19 global pandemic, there are certain noticeable trends developing in the alternative investment funds industry. Fund sponsors continue to gain increased leverage vis à vis their investors, and fund terms are reflecting the shifting landscape. Macroeconomic factors as well as pandemic-inspired adjustments in investor appetite and preferences have contributed to many of these changes. Fundraising challenges, greater ESG accountability, and a keener appreciation of D&I initiatives are also among the developments worth noting from 2021.
