Jason Nelms has been quoted in a recent article in The Business Times, “VCC regime could still change to swing in the favor of single family offices”. In the article, industry experts discuss how the benefits of relaxing the requirements of the variable capital companies (VCC) framework will outweigh the risks and that the changes will have implications for single family offices (SFOs). The number of SFOs in Singapore is growing as Singapore is seen as an attractive wealth and fund management hub.
Jason commented that the VCC framework makes Singapore attractive but that there are many reasons why family offices choose Singapore as a base. "Even if it did not exist, Singapore would still be viewed as a prime destination for a family office's Asia operations," he said.
