Morison & Foerster partner and global chair of the firm’s Private Equity Group, Marcia Ellis was quoted in the article "51job.com agrees to US$5.7 billion privatisation deal, latest US-listed Chinese firm to go private" published by South China Morning Post on 22 June 2021.
According the article, 20 Chinese companies agreed to privatisation deals worth U$20.5 billion since the beginning of 2020. Apart from the heightened US-China tensions, Marcia believed that low valuation is also a reason why some Chinese companies would consider privatisation. “A lot of the China-related companies that are listed in the US suffer a sort of China discount for various reasons", Marcia said.
