Morrison & Foerster partner and global chair of the Private Equity Group Marcia Ellis is quoted in an article, “Chinese companies seek to reopen path for New York IPOs,” published by Nikkei Asia on September 7, 2021.
Despite the hurdles put in place by regulators in Beijing and Washington, a number of Chinese companies are attempting to push ahead with close to $1 billion worth of initial public offerings in New York. Marcia believes that the new disclosure requirements from Chinese regulators is not going to be a huge stumbling block for Chinese listing candidates and that the SEC would “declare a win for investors and they will move on” after improving risk disclosures, as she said happened in 2015.
