Carrie H. Cohen Again Named to City & State New York’s Law Power 100
City & State New York, a prominent multimedia news organization dedicated to covering New York local and state politics and policy, has once again named partner Carrie H. Cohen to its Law Power 100 list. This list honors the 100 most influential leaders in the legal field, including elected and appointed officials, judges, attorneys, and academics.
Carrie is co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Investigations + White Collar Defense and State + Local Government Enforcement groups, and also serves as co-chair of the firm’s Women’s Strategy Committee. As a former federal (SDNY) and state (NYAG) prosecutor, Carrie routinely advises and represents corporations, boards, and C-suite executives in sensitive government-facing investigative and regulatory matters. Carrie’s extensive trial experience and distinguished record of success in high-stakes, white collar defense and securities matters cement her position as a leading lawyer in these practice areas and she is often called upon as trial counsel for particularly sensitive matters.
Carrie is a recognized industry leader in public corruption and state and local government actions. She has been retained and appointed for several high-profile engagements including service as special counsel to the New York City Council, as special independent counsel to the City of Rochester, and on the monitorship team appointed by the U.S. Department of Justice for the global Odebrecht corruption
matter. She has also been appointed by the chief judge of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York as counsel to the Court’s Grievance Committee. She is an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School where she teaches a seminar on Public Corruption and the Law.
Before Morrison & Foerster, Carrie served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York and was the lead prosecutor securing the first conviction of longterm state assembly leader Sheldon Silver. She also served as chief of the Public Integrity Unit in the Criminal Division of the New York State Attorney General’s Office and as an assistant attorney general in the Civil Rights Bureau, where she received the Louis J. Lefkowitz Memorial Award for outstanding service.
