New York Partner Jennifer Marines has been named Top Women Dealmaker in Global M&A Network’s Annual Awards. Global M&A Network honors highly respected, successful, and innovative dealmakers within the transactional community. Notably, Jennifer’s recognition was client-nominated, speaking to her outstanding client service.
Jennifer Marines is the global co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Business Restructuring & Insolvency Group and chair of the firm’s global Finance Department. Jennifer has extensive experience representing debtors, creditors, investors, and other parties-in-interest in all aspects of complex corporate restructurings, including chapter 11 cases, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed acquisitions.
Jennifer is currently acting as lead counsel to CalPlant I, LLC, a Northern California-based company focused on manufacturing sustainably sourced building products. CalPlant filed for protection under chapter 11 to pursue a comprehensive restructuring of the company’s $380 million in secured debt and to obtain investment resources to complete the commissioning of the company’s manufacturing facility.
She is also acting as lead counsel to the receiver of Columbia Pulp I, LLC, one of North America’s first producers of wheat straw pulp, which is used as sustainable feedstock for paper and packaging products. Columbia Pulp entered receivership upon an action of the trustee for the holders of the company’s senior secured bonds in order to pursue a restructuring of approximately $240 million in secured debt.
