Marcia Ellis was profiled in Law.com's "How I Made It" series, discussing her role as global chair of Morrison Foerster's private equity group, the initiatives she's working on as a mentor supporting women lawyers, and what she'd tell her younger self knowing what she knows now.
"I'm not sure I could or would want to give advice to my younger self other than to be ready to pivot when life throws you a curveball," Marcia said. "I think that, in this market (and in life in general), it is not the best strategy to have a very specific, long-term plan that you assiduously attempt to follow. Change is ever-present. Trying to maintain a specific, long-term plan within that change will most likely result in you being sidelined by change. Be ready to pivot. Always be conscious of where the market is going. Don't be afraid of change."
