Jeremy Mandell is the lead of our Financial Services Group. His practice focuses on financial services regulation, with particular attention to payment and emerging payment issues.Jeremy advises bank, non-bank, and fintech clients on financial services regulatory issues, including issues arising under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act, the Truth in Lending Act, and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. He has particular experience working on issues related to interbank and emerging payments systems, including blockchain-based payment solutions and stablecoin platforms. He has counseled clients with award-winning apps and innovative products and services on complex issues, bringing a practical, broad-market perspective to product development, ongoing compliance needs, and regulatory engagement.He also has extensive experience working with banks and non-banks on strategic partnerships. As partnerships between banks and fintechs become more prevalent, Jeremy draws on this experience to advise clients on the financial services regulatory and commercial issues that arise in the context of these partnerships.Jeremy is co-editor of The Consumer Finance Law Review, surveying the legal and regulatory approaches to consumer finance law in jurisdictions around the world. In 2025, Jeremy was elected to the American College of Consumer Financial Services as a new Fellow for his numerous published and teaching contributions to the space.Before joining Morrison Foerster, he served as a senior financial services analyst at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in the Division of Reserve Bank Operations and Payment Systems, where he focused on policy issues related to large-value payments systems. For over 25 years, her practice has focused on helping companies that leverage data through technology.Stephanie serves on the Responsible AI Venture Council, part of the recently launched Lucas Institute for Venture Ethics at Santa Clara University’s Markkula Center for Applied Ethics and currently serves as an advisor to certain research projects of the Institute. Stephanie is also a member of the firm’s global Sustainability + Corporate Responsibility and FinTech steering committees.In addition to publishing on a variety of legal topics related to AI, since 2016, Stephanie has taught as a guest lecturer on data licensing and other IP-related topics in Cornell Law School’s Technology and Entrepreneurship LLM program at CornellTech and has served as a guest lecturer at Cornell Law School.

Eric T. McCrath is the Chair of Morrison Foerster.Eric has been a trusted advisor on hundreds of public and private M&A, private equity, and financing transactions over the course of his career. As part of his market-leading M&A practice, he counsels strategic acquirers and targets in a variety of industries, including technology (semiconductors, software, AR/VR, FinTech, AI), healthcare, consumer products, financial institutions, media, gaming, and transportation. He represents leading U.S. and global companies and regularly advises on complex cross–border transactions.Eric is regularly recognized by leading publications, including Legal 500 US and Chambers USA, with client sources describing him as “greatly skilled at advising on the most complex and high–profile M&A transactions,” and noting that he “combines strong technical skills and a flair for complexity with commercial awareness, pragmatism and sound judgment.”Eric joined Morrison Foerster as a partner in 2007. Jeff Silberman is chair of the firm’s Financial Services Group and co-lead of our Fintech practice, where he provides business-oriented and strategic advice to fintech companies and financial institutions.​​​Jeff’s focus includes bank/fintech partnerships, online and app-based financial services, digital assets and blockchain based payment systems, marketplace business models, and capital markets matters.
