Partner Carrie H. Cohen honored by Crain’s New York Business as a Women of Influence ‒ Mentor
Crain’s New York Business has recognized New York partner Carrie H. Cohen as a Women of Influence – Mentor. The award recognizes women who have successfully lifted up multiple other women in their careers and in the wider community by giving their advice, time, and mentorship and by advocating for policies that help women move into leadership.
Carrie H. Cohen is co-chair of MoFo’s Investigations + White-Collar Defense Group and State + Local Government Enforcement Group, and a member of MoFo’s Workplace Misconduct Investigations Task Force and Women’s Strategy Committee (firmwide). She is a former Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York (SDNY) and former Assistant Attorney General for the New York State Attorney’s General Office with extensive trial experience, a distinguished record of success in high-stakes, white-collar matters, and a reputation as one of the legal community’s most dedicated advocates for women.
Carrie was recognized for her passionate commitment to mentoring women lawyers at all levels and her continued work as a MoFo leader to promote the importance of sponsorship, mentorship, and allyship. She founded the Women in the Profession Program for the New York City Bar’s Cyrus R. Vance Center for International Justice, which provides professional development programming for women lawyers across 19 chapters throughout Central and Latin America. Carrie was also a co-author of the seminal report on women in the courtroom, “If Not Now, When?” which was adopted by the New York State Bar Association and the American Bar Association and helped change judges’ rules to encourage greater participation by junior women lawyers in court appearances and arguments, as well as its follow-up report, “The Time is Now.”
Most recently, Carrie created the “When There Are Nine Scholarship Project” with other alumnae from the SDNY and the Federal Bar Foundation to honor the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg by furthering her commitment to expanding career opportunities for women in law and promoting equity and diversity in the legal profession while providing financial and mentoring support to female law students.
