Morrison Foerster Named Outstanding Firm for Diversity and Inclusion by Chambers
Morrison Foerster has been selected by Chambers as the “Outstanding Firm for Diversity & Inclusion” as part of the Chambers Diversity & Inclusion Awards: USA 2023. This prestigious award recognizes a firm that is demonstrating measurable impact in advocating for and implementing an inclusive work environment.
Chambers recognized Morrison Foerster’s diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives designed to advance inclusivity for all. These include the Wetmore Fellowship, which invites talented first-year law students with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to join our summer associate class; its partnership with Diversity Lab’s OnRamp Fellowship Program, a re-entry platform that helps experienced women lawyers return to “big law” after a hiatus; MoFo Navigate, an umbrella initiative that houses the firm’s mentorship and sponsorship initiatives; its partnership with Keep Company, a coaching program specifically designed for parents and caregivers in the legal industry; MoFo’s Dobbs Initiative; and the firm’s work with Diversity Lab’s new Disability Inclusion Advisory Group.
“We are delighted to be selected for this prestigious award which spotlights MoFo’s commitment to furthering DEIA in the communities in which we work and live. We strive to foster a culture that respects, embraces, and celebrates our differences as strengths,” said Natalie Kernisant, Morrison Foerster’s Chief Diversity and Inclusion officer. “We are honored to be recognized for the work we have done and look forward to continuing to move the needle forward.”
For more than 40 years, Morrison Foerster has remained committed to furthering DEIA. We aim to be a model of diversity that others will follow, and we truly believe it is important for our leadership teams to reflect the diversity of life experiences, thoughts, and perspectives we see in our communities. We are proud to be the first major law firm to have elected an openly gay chair in 2001 and one of the first AmLaw 50 firms to ever elect a diverse firm chair of Asian descent in October 2022. Formed in 2003, MoFo’s Diversity Strategy Committee supports a variety of internal diversity, LGBTQ+, and women’s initiatives, programs, and groups designed to recruit and develop diverse lawyers and business professionals.
