Kristen Mathews spoke to Law360 about California’s new Delete Act, which was signed into law on October 10, requiring businesses that collect and sell personal information belonging to consumers with whom they don't have a direct relationship to honor requests that consumers will be able to make with a single click to expunge their data.
“From a risk perspective, given the attention the law is getting and is expected to get from the California Privacy Protection Agency, businesses that are in the gray area and not considering themselves to be data brokers might not be able to take that risk anymore and may end up registering as data brokers,” said Kristen.
