David Cross, Daralyn Durie, and Tessa Schwartz have been recognized by Forbes in its inaugural list of the Top 200 Lawyers in the United States, established to celebrate those lawyers with the most impressive track records and those most respected by peers and clients.
David Cross, chair of the Antitrust Litigation practice in the firm’s global Antitrust Law Group, is an accomplished first-chair trial lawyer with extensive experience in high-stakes antitrust and commercial litigation involving cutting-edge and complex industries. David also maintains a robust pro bono practice focused on protecting fundamental civil rights. Forbes highlights David’s role as lead trial counsel “representing voters against the Georgia state elections board over touch-screen voting machines that they say are susceptible to breaches” in future elections, for which he was recently honored with the ABA’s annual Pro Bono Publico Award. Additionally, Forbes highlights David’s passionate advocacy for “greater representation in the field of law for lawyers with disabilities.”
Daralyn Durie, partner in the firm’s global IP Litigation Group, is consistently identified as one of the nation’s most successful trial lawyers. Forbes highlights Daralyn’s “decades of lead-counsel experience litigating high-stakes disputes and complex matters on behalf of top innovators in the technology and life-sciences sectors,” with her recent wins including defense jury verdicts for Aptiv (USB hubs), Activision (in the Eastern District of Texas), and Redbubble. She also served as lead counsel for Google, defending Google Books from copyright infringement claims, and has spearheaded the enforcement of Genentech’s Cabilly family of patents.
Tessa Schwartz, co-chair of MoFo’s transactions department and co-founder of the firm’s market-leading AI practice, advises on high-impact and headline-making IP, commercial, and M&A transactions for tech leaders and emerging and large public companies. Forbes describes Tessa as a “nationally recognized figure in intellectual property,” highlighting her experience “advising clients on all aspects of AI and the digital frontier.” Forbes also highlights her role on Salesforce’s $27.7 billion acquisition of Slack Technologies, the second-largest software deal in history, which united two of San Francisco’s biggest tech leaders. Tessa has worked on numerous other blockbuster deals, including advising Unity with its asset carve-out acquisition from Weta Digital of certain assets for a purchase price of $1.625 billion in a combination of cash and stock.
The Forbes editorial team conducted in-depth research into thousands of candidates and based selections on criteria that include reputation, industry honors, influence on the legal landscape, advocacy performance, commitment to diversity, and more.
