Carrie H. Cohen spoke to The New York Times regarding the ongoing investigation into New York City Mayor Eric Adams and other high-ranking City Hall officials. She commented on prosecutors continuing to conduct searches and seizures as part of the investigation, noting that there can be time pressure to determine whether to indict or to close the investigation.
“In public corruption cases, because the subjects of the investigations are often elected or appointed figures, a looming federal inquiry can hurt the public’s trust in the public officials,” she said. “You have an obligation as a prosecutor to move fast, as fast as you can.”
