Krista deBoer was quoted in Law.com’s article that reported on the increase use of mass arbitration by plaintiffs firms and how companies are fighting back with lawsuits that challenge both the validity of the claims and the ethics of the lawyers.
Krista noted, “There is some collective frustration with it, with utilizing the mass arbitration platform to extract settlements under the threat of higher fees and folks are frustrated by the fact that a lot of these claims aren’t valid, and they’re being forced to settle claims that aren’t valid.”
She suggested that "Plaintiffs firms should do a better job of vetting their mass arbitration clients, most of whom have documentation since they signed up for a service or have a payment receipt or email."
