Carrie H. Cohen spoke to Gothamist about criminal bribery charges brought against wealthy real estate investor Raizaida Vaid for allegedly bribing one of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ top aides, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, in exchange for fast-tracking liquor license approvals from city agencies.
Carrie said that campaign fundraisers, donations, letters of support and meetings with those trying to gain influence are not necessarily illegal, but "if someone… is willing to go farther to bribe that official and the official is a willing participant, that’s when it crosses the line."
