Morrison Foerster Represents F.C. Hansa in Lawsuit Against Splendid Drinks
Berlin, 20 May 2025 – Morrison Foerster is representing northern German football club F.C. Hansa in its lawsuit before the Regional Court of Rostock against Splendid Drinks AG (“Splendid”), the trademark owner of the energy drink 28BLACK and sponsor of the club.
F.C. Hansa’s lawsuit includes compensation claims for the 2024/2025 season as well as claims for damages and information under German civil law. Prior to the expiration of the contractually agreed upon minimum term, and without any notice, Splendid declared an extraordinary termination of the sponsorship agreement.
“Sports and contract law are among our core areas of expertise,” explains Jakob Schellmann, counsel at MoFo. “We are therefore well aware of the club’s importance in the region and throughout the country. F.C. Hansa is a club with great tradition, a strong public presence, and a passionate fan base. We will support the club in this significant matter with all available means.”
MoFo’s legal team in this matter is led by Dr. Julia Schwalm, partner, and Jakob Schellmann, counsel.
