Morrison Foerster New York partner Al Williams has been named to GlobeSt. CRE’s Aspiring Leaders of 2026 list, which recognizes rising commercial real estate professionals under 40 with strong transaction track records who have made meaningful contributions to their organizations’ success.
A partner in Morrison Foerster’s Real Estate Group, Al represents banks, private credit lenders, investment managers, and other financial institutions in highly structured real estate finance and investment transactions. He also advises private equity sponsors, family offices, and domestic and foreign investors on acquisitions, financings, developments, and the operation of real estate assets across a range of property types.
Al’s practice is particularly focused on complex and leveraged capital structures, including senior mortgage loans, mezzanine financings, bridge-to-term structures, preferred equity investments, co-lender arrangements, intercreditor issues, and back-leverage transactions. He also advises clients in distressed and transitional situations, including opportunistic debt and equity acquisitions, recapitalizations, restructurings, workouts, and bankruptcies involving real estate collateral.
Over the past several years, amid pandemic-related disruption, rising interest rates, and sector-specific distress, Al has played leading roles in transactions involving some of the country’s most visible and operationally complex real estate assets. His work has included office recapitalizations in gateway markets, office-to-residential conversion projects, data center developments and financings, large-scale logistics financings, and workouts arising from changes in affordable housing laws.
Known for his practical, client-focused approach, Al helps sponsors, lenders, and investors navigate complicated capital stacks, volatile market conditions, and sensitive stakeholder dynamics. His recognition by GlobeSt. reflects both the breadth of his real estate finance experience and his reputation for providing creative, solution-oriented advice on complex commercial real estate matters.
