Spencer Klein Named M&A Lawyer of the Year by Finance Monthly
New York partner Spencer Klein, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s global M&A Group, has been named M&A Lawyer of the Year by Finance Monthly in its Deal Maker Awards 2025. The global publication recognizes the outstanding achievements and strategic excellence of the industry’s most accomplished dealmakers.
Spencer has advised on over 200 completed transactions, including mergers, tender and exchange offers, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures. A seasoned advisor in contested matters, he regularly counsels boards and special committees on high-stakes deals and governance issues, including shareholder activism defense and takeover defense counseling.
Spencer represents top U.S. and global companies across sectors such as healthcare, financial services, technology, consumer products, media and entertainment, manufacturing, retail, and energy. His clients include major corporations, private equity firms, and leading investment banks involved in multibillion-dollar transactions.
Among his notable recent matters that earned him M&A Lawyer of the year honors, Spencer represented the legendary rock band KISS and its cofounders Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley in the sale of substantially all rights related to KISS to Pophouse Entertainment, as well as public company U.S. Silica in its $1.85 billion sale to Apollo and private equity sponsor Ascendent Capital Partners in its $1.66 billion acquisition of publicly traded HollySys Automation Technologies.
