The Daily Journal has named San Francisco partner Christopher C. McKinnon as one of its Top 40 Under 40 Lawyers for 2025. The annual list honors exceptional young California attorneys who have played pivotal roles in high-stakes matters.
In his practice, Chris advises venture capital and private equity firms on their most significant and challenging investment and M&A transactions, specializing in matters involving high-value, venture-backed technology companies, including the following recent blockbuster transactions:
- SoftBank’s record-breaking investment round of up to $40 billion in OpenAI, the world’s leading AI research and development company. This was the largest overall venture investment round and single venture investment in history.
- The Stargate Project, a joint venture led by SoftBank and OpenAI to invest in next-generation AI infrastructure in the United States, initially announced alongside the President of the United States at the White House.
Chris also acts as outside general counsel to high-growth technology startups, advising them throughout their life cycle, from formation to capital raising to exit.
