Morrison Foerster advised OpenAI on agreements for the co-development and supply of AI accelerators with Broadcom (NASDAQ: AVGO), a leader in designing, developing and supplying advanced semiconductors. 10 gigawatts of the OpenAI-designed AI accelerators will be deployed in OpenAI’s facilities and partner data centers.
By designing its own chips, OpenAI can embed what it’s learned from developing frontier models and products directly into hardware, unlocking new levels of capability and intelligence. The AI accelerators will meet surging global demand for AI.
The deployment of racks containing the AI accelerators is targeted to start in the second half of 2026 and to be completed by the end of 2029.
The MoFo team advising OpenAI was led by technology transactions partner Justin Haan.
