As explored in a recent article published by Mergermarket, “Japan is likely to see an uptick in GP-led secondaries as more private equity funds approach end-of-life.” Randy Laxer spoke with Mergermarket to discuss this prediction:
“A bulk of the market's growth occurred over the last five years. As a result, we are only now starting to see many of these recent portfolio investments approaching their original investment horizon and ripe for an exit,” explained Laxer. "More companies are going to come online for exits soon. And the question is: Are they going to be faced with the same strong exit opportunities as we have historically seen or is there going to be a need for some of them to consider other liquidity events, like continuation vehicles, if traditional exits opportunities are not readily available?"
