Nate Mendell interviewed with WCVB-TV about the recent Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court decision allowing DNA testing to proceed in a murder case connected to several murders committed by the New Bedford Highway Killer. Nate, who represents families of the victims, emphasized that the DNA testing is especially important because “[t]he murder that [Shawn] Tanner was convicted of was close in time, close in location and close in cause” to the highway murders, raising the possibility of a link between the crimes. He added that the ruling vindicates the rights of victims in Massachusetts and also achieves a larger goal: “It’s a win for victims. And I think, taking one step back, it’s a win for the search for truth.”
