Recognized for advancing elder care access in New York
Morrison Foerster partner Jeff Xu, a member of the Finance Group, has been selected to receive the New York State Bar Association President’s Pro Bono Service Award for the First Judicial District. The award recognizes attorneys who advance access to justice through pro bono work.
Jeff has guided dozens of low-income older New Yorkers in preparing wills, powers of attorney, advance medical directives, and other essential elder care documents, helping clients plan for the future with clarity and dignity. He has been instrumental in encouraging and mentoring other lawyers at MoFo as they provide these services to clients referred by Volunteers of Legal Service, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding pro bono legal services in New York City’s underserved communities. Jeff recently joined the Volunteers of Legal Service board and the organization’s executive director nominated him for this recognition.
Jeff was honored on May 1, 2026, at the NYSBA President’s Pro Bono Service Awards Ceremony.
