Whitney O'Byrne Named to Bloomberg Law's They've Got Next 40 Under 40

Whitney O'Byrne, a partner in Morrison Foerster's Complex Litigation + Advisement Group, has been named to Bloomberg Law's sixth annual They've Got Next 40 Under 40 list, which recognizes 40 lawyers nationwide who are raising the bar in the legal profession through exceptional client service, leadership, and community impact.

The recognition highlights lawyers who are shaping the future of the profession through their work on complex matters and their commitment to serving their communities. Whitney is a trial lawyer who handles complex, high-stakes disputes across a range of industries and subject matters. Her practice includes precedent-setting litigation involving artificial intelligence, copyright, intellectual property, and digital platforms, as well as broader commercial and business controversies that demand creative strategy and courtroom skill.

Bloomberg Law also recognized Whitney's commitment to pro bono service. Following the 2025 Eaton Fire in Los Angeles, she co-led a pro bono effort with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles to help tenants returning to homes affected by smoke and ash. The work resulted in settlements establishing inspection and remediation protocols designed to better protect tenants after future disasters.
