GOP grapples with misconduct allegations against two lawmakers

Kimberly Hamm spoke to Carrie Johnson on NPR's Politics Podcast about the Senate Government Affairs Committee voting to hold Dr. Anthony Fauci in contempt of Congress for invoking his Fifth Amendment right during his recent Congressional testimony and whether Fauci was legally entitled to do so after he was pardoned by the Biden administration.

Kimberly stated, "The problem here is that the pardon covers federal crimes or potential federal crimes, and there is an issue of state liability, and that was confirmed actually shortly after the hearing ended when one state AG and then a few other state AGs confirmed, in fact, they were investigating Dr. Fauci. So I think the possibility of state prosecution here is a strong argument that his lawyers can make for why he was entitled to invoke the Fifth Amendment."
