For the last couple of years, governments around the world have been converging on a fairly straightforward response to concerns about children. “Ban it!” seems to be the preferred approach. Australia became the first country to impose obligations on covered social media platforms to keep children under 16 from holding accounts, France passed a ban for children under 15 that its highest constitutional authority has since blocked, and now New Zealand is considering a ban of its own.
