Daralyn Durie wrote an article for Bloomberg Law entitled “AI Connects the Dots, But Trial Lawyers Tell the Client’s Story” that discusses why artificial intelligence is unlikely to replace trial lawyers, despite its growing ability to handle routine litigation tasks. Daralyn explains that AI can efficiently review documents, organize information, identify inconsistencies, and generate deposition questions. However, trials require human judgment, adaptability, and an ability to read and respond to a courtroom in real time. She contends that trials are lived human experiences in which lawyers must move beyond a script, engage jurors, and bring a client’s story to life.
