Eric Akira Tate Elected Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers
The College of Labor and Employment Lawyers has elected Eric Akira Tate, co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Global Employment and Labor Group, as a Fellow.
The College was established in 1995 as an initiative of the Council of The Section of Labor and Employment Law of the American Bar Association (ABA). It operates as a free standing organization recognizing colleagues of outstanding performance in the profession, exemplifying integrity, dedication and excellence.
Eric represents companies in trade secrets and employee mobility, whistleblower, and other employment litigation across the country. In addition, he counsels companies on employment law compliance and transactional matters, including enforceability of restrictive covenants throughout the United States, #MeToo and other sensitive internal investigations of alleged employee misconduct, employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions, and collective bargaining and traditional labor relations.
Eric is a leader in the ABA’s Labor and Employment (LEL) Section, currently serving on the governing Council for the Section, and LEL’s Employment Rights and Responsibilities Committee, serving as co-chair of the Covenants Not to Compete and Trade Secrets Subcommittee. He also is active in community endeavors. Eric co-founded and is a former president of the board of directors of Hapa Issues Forum, Inc., a nonprofit community organization that addresses issues relating to persons of partial Asian descent, is a member of the 100 Black Men of the Bay Area, Inc., and is a former President of the Japanese Cultural and Community Center of Northern California board of directors.
