MoFo’s Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion Highlighted in Asia
MoFo’s long-standing support of diversity and inclusion (D&I) globally was highlighted in an article published in the Japanese Economic Newspaper, Nihon Keizai Shimbun, on November 2, 2022, discussing recent significant legislative changes impacting the LGBTQ+ community in Singapore.
The article, available in Japanese, comments that “In Singapore, where foreigners account for nearly 30% of the population, companies are also emphasizing the acceptance of people with diverse values and characteristics.” It also introduced our D&I efforts, “For example, the law firm Morrison & Foerster promotes diversity and inclusion (D&I) by allowing up to 50 hours per year of diversity-related activities to be paid for by employees. D&I includes gender, age, race, physical characteristics, and, of course, sexual orientation.”
MoFo has been a standard-bearer for LGBTQ+ equality in the legal profession globally for more than 30 years, believing that diversity adds value both to the organization and to the service provided to its clients. The firm’s Diversity Mission Statement defines its cultural values and outlines its commitment to breaking down barriers to equal opportunity, valuing the differences among people in the organization, and creating an atmosphere in which each individual can develop their potential to the fullest extent possible.
