Bloomberg Law quoted Joe Gratz, during his oral argument before U.S. District Judge John Koeltl, on whether copyright law’s fair use doctrine protects the Internet Archive’s lending library of digitized books.
“Copies that are made in furtherance of doing something that otherwise is lawful—getting the work to someone who is entitled to see or read it—are copies that are privileged under fair use,” said Joe.
