The Daily Journal has recognized partners Bita Rahebi and Joseph C. Gratz as Top Intellectual Property Lawyers in its 2024 edition.
Marking her third consecutive year of recognition on this list, Bita Rahebi, co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Global IP Litigation Group and the cross-disciplinary Intellectual Property Group, and co-leader of its Semiconductor Industry Group, helps the world’s most innovative technology companies protect their most valuable assets. She provides strategic direction and leads complex, high-stakes litigation matters. She litigates before state and federal trial courts, the Federal Circuit, and the International Trade Commission on a wide range of matters involving semiconductors, software, consumer electronics, medical devices, and standard essential patents (SEPs).
Clients turn to Joe Gratz to handle trailblazing litigation where copyright and trademark law meet new technologies. An experienced litigator, Joe draws on his strong technical background to distill complex issues into simple, accurate concepts for judges, juries, and clients. He currently represents OpenAI and Stability AI in all of their US copyright litigation. Joe’s cases have set key precedents in internet law, from the Google Books case that laid the groundwork for today’s generative AI innovations to key cases establishing the boundaries of intermediary liability. In addition to representing their interests in the courtroom, Joe helps his clients navigate their thorniest product counseling puzzles to reduce the risk of litigation.
This recognition is one of many the pair have received, with Bita being recently named by World IP Review (WIPR) as one of WIPR’s 50 Most Influential Women in IP, while Joe was recently named Litigator of the Year – California at the Managing IP Americas Awards.
