MoFo Observes Juneteenth on June 19, 2024
Juneteenth commemorates the day when news of the emancipation of enslaved African Americans reached Galveston, Texas on June 19, 1865, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It is a day of reflection, celebration, and education, marking a significant milestone in the journey toward equality and justice for all.
As we honor Juneteenth, let us also take this opportunity to reflect on the ongoing work needed to create a more just and inclusive society. This day serves as a reminder of the resilience, strength, and contributions of the Black community, as well as a call to action for continued progress in the fight against systemic racism and oppression. We encourage everyone to take this day to engage in meaningful conversations, educate themselves, and support initiatives that promote diversity and inclusion in their communities.
