(June 3, 2026) – Morrison Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce the arrival of Marjorie Soto Garcia as a partner in the Employment + Labor Group in the Los Angeles office. Soto Garcia brings deep experience providing strategic advice to employers of all sizes—from Fortune 100 companies to startups—on the full spectrum of class action employment litigation, labor union and collective bargaining, and workplace compliance issues. She has served as lead counsel in multiple class and representative actions and regularly counsels clients across industries including technology, healthcare, private equity, and media. In addition, Soto Garcia provides employment advice and counsel on corporate transactions involving emerging companies and private equity clients.
Soto Garcia joins Morrison Foerster from another prominent international law firm, where she led its technology and artificial intelligence practice within the employment group. She brings significant experience advising clients on the legal risks associated with the use of AI in workforce decisions, including hiring, payroll, and reductions in workforce headcount. She also regularly defends employers in state and federal class and representative actions alleging wage and hour and background check violations, including under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the California Labor Code and Wage Orders, the California Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA), and the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). Soto Garcia additionally defends employers in state and federal lawsuits alleging discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wrongful termination. Further, she represents and advises clients on traditional labor matters, including collective bargaining, unfair labor practice charges, union election proceedings, and training on compliance with the National Labor Relations Act for in-house counsel and human resources teams.
“Marjorie is an outstanding addition to our Employment and Labor team. Her forward-looking practice focus aligns well with the firm’s strategic priorities, particularly in Los Angeles and within the technology and AI sectors,” said Eric Akira Tate, chair of Morrison Foerster’s global Employment and Labor Group. “In addition to strengthening our West Coast presence, Marjorie expands our capabilities in wage and hour litigation and employment class actions, in addition to emerging AI-related workplace issues an area of growing importance for our clients.”
Soto Garcia frequently speaks on labor and employment labor law issues, with a focus on the evolving intersection of technology, AI, and workplace law. She is fluent in Spanish and is acutely familiar with advising clients on Spanish-language workplace policies and interfacing with witnesses and parties in both English and Spanish languages throughout all stages of litigation.
“I am honored to join MoFo’s premier Employment and Labor Group,” said Soto Garcia. “The firm’s deep tech roots and strong AI and tech industry focus, are highly synergistic with my background and client base, and provide me with an ideal platform to grow my practice, especially with respect to advising clients at the intersection of AI and labor law.”
