Ann Lilienthal and Ruti Smithline Named Among Top 100 Female Lawyers by Latinvex

Latinvex has named MoFo partners Ann Lilienthal and Ruti Smithline to its list of Latin America’s Top 100 Female Lawyers. The publication examined nearly 100 law firms and selected attorneys across the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Cayman Islands, and the British Virgin Islands. The list is compiled based on major deals as well as the firms’ presence in Latin America.

Ann Lilienthal is a partner in the Agency Finance and Finance Groups. Based in Washington, D.C., Ann specializes in cross-border financing transactions, where she represents agencies and other investors (including development finance institutions, export credit agencies, multilateral institutions, and commercial banks) in connection with the development and financing of projects in a variety of sectors, including energy and infrastructure. Ann’s practice focuses on complex project financing and other structured and corporate finance transactions in emerging markets worldwide. In addition to her lender-side work, Ann’s experience includes advising agencies on domestic and cross-border equity investments, including direct equity investments and investment funds.

As co-chair of Morrison Foerster’s Latin America practice and chair of the New York Litigation Department, Ruti Smithline has conducted government-facing and internal investigations throughout Latin America and proactively helps clients with their compliance needs, including conducting risk assessments, developing compliance programs, and providing training. Ruti has represented individual and corporate defendants in cross-border criminal investigations, SEC enforcement matters, and other regulatory proceedings, including matters related to trade sanctions and anti-money laundering. Born and raised in Colombia and a native Spanish speaker, she is able to provide guidance to her clients without a need for translation.
