Morrison Foerster has advised Clarios, the world’s largest automotive battery manufacturer, in connection with the European Commission’s starter batteries investigation. On December 15, 2025, the European Commission fined battery manufacturers and an industry association a total of EUR72 million but granted Clarios full immunity from fines for disclosing the matter and collaborating with the European Commission.
Alexander Israel, Chair of Morrison Foerster’s European Competition practice, has advised Clarios in this matter since 2017, with the broader team including partners Jan Lang as well as associates María Requejo, Alexander Laute, and Ella Edye – all members of the firm’s antitrust practice.
