Brian said food companies would prefer a uniform federal approach if policymakers move toward mandatory notification requirements. “It won’t be practical for companies to have to navigate five, a dozen, or more different requirements,” Brian commented. He added that industry would be open to considering alternatives that avoid a patchwork of state regulations, while emphasizing that multiple potential regulatory frameworks could be considered with the FDA.
