Ex-DOJ Official Sees More False Claims Act Cases Getting Tossed

Paul Perkins spoke to Bloomberg about the U.S. Justice Department recently encouraging prosecutors to dismiss more False Claims Act (FCA) lawsuits against companies brought by whistleblowers, sharing his insider perspective from his previous role as associate deputy attorney general at the Justice Department’s civil division. He noted that the department’s authority to dismiss whistleblower lawsuits “will be utilized more aggressively,” and that "the government will be looking at a number of factors, including whether the underlying allegations have merit."

Bloomberg also highlighted Paul joining Morrison Foerster as a chair of the firm's FCA practice.
