Morrison Foerster, a leading global law firm, is pleased to announce the arrival of Chris Grey, who joins the firm as partner in the firm’s M&A Practice Group and as UK Tech Sector Lead. Grey joins the firm with nearly 20 years’ experience advising blue chip global companies and investors on some of their largest and most complex cross-border technology M&A and investments, notably in fintech and AI. In 2025, MergerLinks ranked him among the top 10 fintech lawyers in EMEA. Grey is the tenth Transactions partner to join Morrison Foerster’s London office in the last 18 months, reinforcing the firm’s continued investment in its transactional capabilities in the London market.
Grey joins Morrison Foerster from a major global law firm, where he was partner and formerly served as global co-head of tech M&A and global co-lead of its technology sector. He adds significant strength to Morrison Foerster’s tech M&A practice. He has advised on transactions with aggregate value in excess of US$100 billion across his career. His practice spans cross-border M&A, take-privates, strategic investments, partnerships and joint ventures, venture capital transactions, financings, and other strategic and corporate governance mandates. His clients include the world’s leading technology companies, investors, founders, corporate venture arms, and growth-stage businesses. His practice focuses on fintech, AI, and digital infrastructure. His wider experience includes robotics, software, quantum computing, defense, semiconductors, and IT services. Having practiced in both London and Paris for many years, Grey advises U.S. and European clients on their multibillion-dollar transatlantic transactions and brings with him comprehensive multi-jurisdictional expertise and relationships.
“Investing in our global M&A capabilities and broader technology platform are top priorities for the firm,” said Eric McCrath, chair of Morrison Foerster. “Chris’s arrival deepens our London platform and reflects our core strategy of building on our strengths in key markets for our clients around the world.”
“Chris is a valuable strategic addition to the firm in a key market, adding strength to our global M&A practice,” said Spencer Klein, chair of the firm’s global M&A Practice Group. “Chris’s experience advising on complex transactions sits squarely at the intersection of technology and innovation and will bring immense value to our clients across the technology, AI, and fintech industries, and highlights our ongoing commitment to investing in our global tech M&A capabilities and team.”
“MoFo has built a premier platform for big-ticket technology M&A in the U.S., Europe, Asia and around the world. Technology is not just one of the firm’s sectors, it is at the heart of everything MoFo does. Front page deals that define the market today bring together innovators, funders and regulators found around the globe. No firm has MoFo’s experience and credibility with all three. MoFo’s expertise and relationships run from its San Francisco origins and span the world’s corridors of innovation and capital: Silicon Valley, New York, Tokyo, and London. I am excited to become part of it,” said Grey. “This is the ideal platform for my practice and I look forward to collaborating with my colleagues across MoFo’s market-leading practices on the transactions that matter most to our clients. The firm’s forward-looking investment in London over the past year speaks for itself, and I am thrilled to be joining at this point in its growth.”
Grey holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and Bachelor of Commerce (Finance and Economics) from the University of Sydney. He is admitted to practice in England & Wales and has also qualified in France and Australia (non-practicing) and is a bilingual English and French speaker.
