Morrison Foerster partner Scott Jalowayski and associate Yui Hirohashi share insights in the Global Private Capital Association’s (GPCA) 2026 Legal & Regulatory Journal, which brings together perspectives from leading practitioners on the legal, regulatory, and structural issues shaping private capital across global growth markets.
In their article, “Private Equity and Global Sports,” Scott and Yui examine the growing role of private equity in the global sports sector and the factors driving investor interest in the asset class. As sports businesses increasingly combine media, technology, data, sponsorship, and consumer engagement, investment opportunities are expanding well beyond traditional team ownership.
The article considers some of the key commercial and legal dynamics shaping investment activity in the sector, including the growing institutionalization of sports assets, the importance of league and governance structures, and the opportunities as well as complexities investors face when pursuing transactions across different markets.
Scott is a member of the GPCA Legal & Regulatory Council, which brings together senior legal professionals from across the global private capital industry to address key legal and regulatory developments affecting investment in growth markets.
The Journal also covers developments in private credit, continuation funds and other liquidity solutions, fund structures and economics, venture studios, energy investment, secondaries, and other areas shaping the private capital landscape.
