Vivian L. Hanson is a partner in the firm’s Technology Transactions Group and Co-Chair of the U.S. Sourcing Practice. Ms. Hanson has concentrated her practice on domestic and multi-jurisdictional transactions involving technology and intellectual property (IP) for clients in the media and entertainment, information services, information technologies (IT), financial services, and life sciences industries. Clients rely on her extensive experience with software, technology and IP licenses, technology transfers, cloud and software-as-a-service agreements, business process and IT outsourcings, and other technology-related services transactions, as well as joint ventures, strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions. She also advises Japanese clients and is fluent in Japanese.
Ms. Hanson is ranked as one of America’s leading technology lawyers by Chambers Global (2009–2016), Chambers USA (2007–2016), Legal 500 US (2008–2018), and The Best Lawyers in America (2007–2018). Ms. Hanson is an inaugural inductee into the Legal 500 2017 Hall of Fame, along with fewer than 500 other outstanding U.S. partners who have been recommended as “Leading Lawyers” for the last six years consecutively. She has been recognized by Euromoney Legal Media Group Americas Women in Business Law Awards as a best in technology lawyer for 2017 and 2018.
Ms. Hanson is a frequent speaker and has lectured for a variety of organizations, including the Practising Law Institute, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, Institutional Investors News, International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (for which she has served as Co-Chair of the New York Chapter), Outsourcing Institute, and the Sourcing Interests Group. She has also published numerous articles which have appeared in such ALM publications as The International Trade Law Newsletter and The Technology Transactions Newsletter for which she has served on the boards of editors.
While earning her J.D., Ms. Hanson served as Submissions Editor for the Columbia Human Rights Law Review.
