Morrison Foerster, in conjunction with Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County (NLSLA), reached Settlement Agreements with Los Angeles County and the City of Pasadena on behalf of the Pasadena Tenants’ Union and individual tenant wildfire survivors. These settlements resolve litigation filed over the City’s failure to conduct meaningful inspections and enforce habitability standards for tenants whose homes were contaminated by toxic smoke, ash, and soot from the Eaton Fire. The Pasadena lawsuit, filed in May 2025 by NLSLA and MoFo on behalf of their clients, sought to ensure that tenants living in Pasadena units impacted by post-fire contamination were not left to fend for themselves in the face of landlords refusing to conduct appropriate testing and remediation. Kira is an experienced courtroom lawyer who assists life sciences companies in high-stakes patent litigation.Kira is the head of Morrison Foerster’s Los Angeles Litigation Department, a partner in the IP Litigation Group, and a member of the firm-wide Life Sciences + Healthcare Leadership Team. Whitney O'Byrne

Brian R. Brian Michael

Greg’s practice focuses on complex commercial litigation, antitrust matters, and counseling. He has litigated cases in state and federal courts and before arbitration tribunals throughout the country in a variety of industries and fields. He has substantial trial experience, taking the lead on a number of trials and arbitrations. He has successfully defended many large-scale actions on behalf of major international corporations, including nationwide class actions involving billing disputes and alleged antitrust violations. He has extensive experience enforcing arbitration clauses/class action waivers. He also frequently advises clients in the pre-dispute context on a range of business practice issues.    In the consumer class action area, Greg has led the defense of breach of contract, fraud, false advertising, and unfair trade practice cases involving financial institutions, transportation companies, and insurance companies, among others. He has litigated literally hundreds of cases in the transportation industry context. He also regularly handles cases involving financial accounting issues, including disputes over complex accounting, auditing, and taxation issues in professional liability cases. Gregory B. Koltun

Rob Paris is an associate in Morrison Foerster’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group and focuses his practice on IP litigation with an interest in privacy and technology matters. Prior to joining Morrison Foerster, Rob clerked for the Honorable Stephen A. Higginson of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals and the Honorable James Donato of the Northern District of California. Prior to his legal career, Rob worked for Teach for America as a high school geometry teacher.Rob earned a J.D with the highest pro bono distinction from Stanford Law School. He graduated cum laude from Harvard.

Rachel’s practice focuses on complex litigation, with significant experience representing clients in class actions, as well as in intellectual property disputes and other high-stakes matters. Before joining Morrison & Foerster’s Litigation Department, Rachel was a summer associate at the firm. She also served as a law clerk for Deputy District Attorney Paul Kim in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office, Organized Crime Division.While in pursuit of her J.D., Rachel was the managing editor of the Southern California Law Review, Volume 92. Rachel was also a fellow of the Jewish Graduate Student Initiative, a policy director of the International Refugee Assistance Program, and participated in the University of Southern California (USC) Gould School of Law International Human Rights Clinic.Before attending law school, Rachel held multiple roles at the Aspen Institute, a global nonprofit organization committed to driving global change through dialogue, thought leadership, and action. As assistant manager of donor stewardship, assistant corporate secretary, development coordinator, and assistant to the vice president, Rachel helped to manage a scholarship program that promoted innovative thinking by bringing to the table leaders from diverse backgrounds and networks. She also served on the Aspen Institute’s Latinos and Society Program Scholarship Selection Committee and affinity groups such as the Aspen Institute’s Social Committee and Green Initiative Committee. Rachel Simon Feldman

Nima is an associate in the Litigation Department. His practice focuses on intellectual property litigation.Nima is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Law, where he was the Co-chair of the Intellectual Property Law Association. Nima has experience participating in the development of pending patent applications and preparing application responses for various technological fields ranging from distributed cloud data storage to high-precision, wireless bioelectronic sensors. In addition, he served as a summer associate in Morrison & Foerster’s Los Angeles office in 2018 and 2019 as part of the firm’s Two Summer Patent Program.Nima received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Arizona State University. Nima I. Kiaei

Alexandra (Alex) Ward is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison Foerster’s Los Angeles office.Alex represents clients in complex commercial litigation and consumer class actions in both federal and state courts. Her practice spans a wide range of business disputes, including breach of contract, fraud, negligence, unfair trade practices, breach of warranty, and copyright infringement.With a focus on high-volume, complex litigation, Alex has handled hundreds of cases in the transportation industry. She also has experience across a variety of other sectors, including consumer products, retail, technology, and artificial intelligence. Alex regularly represents clients in arbitration proceedings before the American Arbitration Association (AAA) across the country and maintains an active trial practice. Most recently, she was a key member of a trial team that secured a complete defense verdict for a Fortune 50 company.She also advises and represents retail clients in solicitation and trespass matters, often coordinating with local law enforcement and municipal agencies to address unauthorized conduct on commercial property and pursuing injunctive relief when necessary. In addition, Alex counsels clients on their terms and conditions of service, website disclosures, and other key business policies. She maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on civil rights and immigration matters.During law school, Alex was an associate editor of the UCLA Law Review, a writing advisor for the Lawyering Skills Program, and a volunteer ambassador for the Office of Admissions. She also competed in the Jones Day 1L Moot Court Competition.Before joining MoFo, Alex gained a range of legal experience across both public and private sectors. She served as a diversity fellowship intern at Fox Group Legal in Los Angeles and interned with the Office of the Attorney General’s Child Protection Section in Washington, D.C. In San Diego, Alex volunteered with JusticeCorps at the South County Superior Court, where she provided over 300 hours of one-on-one assistance to self-represented litigants in the Family Law Facilitator’s Office. She also spent two years as a legal assistant at a San Diego law firm focused on civil commercial litigation and construction law.

Zach Quinlan is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group.Prior to law school, Zach worked as a software engineer for a major credit card company. He has experience in full-stack software development, cloud computing and infrastructure, and process automation.Zach earned his J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School, where he served as the technology editor for the Journal of Entertainment and Technology Law.Zach earned a B.S.A. in Computer Science from the University of Texas, Austin.
