Alethea Jones is the real estate deal manager and title specialist in the firm’s New York office, working primarily in the general corporate area, with a particular emphasis on real estate financing transactions that range from the customary to the complex. She has extensive experience in commercial and residential real estate, and has developed a particular proficiency in the examination and negotiation of commercial title insurance products. Alethea provides advice on a full range of commercial title issues, including, but not limited to, adverse possession, riparian rights, development rights, restrictive covenants, survey matters, leasehold estates, and UCC lien perfection and priority matters. She has worked on a variety of real estate-related financings, including loans secured by multiple properties, syndicated loans, subordinate and mezzanine financings, and construction loans.
Alethea received her bachelor’s degree in industrial sociology from Pace University in 1983, and a paralegal certificate from Mercy College, with distinction, in 1990. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster in July 1997, she worked with another international law firm for five years. Alethea is a member of the Real Estate Board for Women of New York.
