A recent survey of nearly 4,200 female and male personal grooming consumers noted that 64% of all women surveyed are aware of beauty products containing hemp or cannabinoids, and 30% have actually purchased these products (Source:Benchmarking Company Survey, July, 2018). With the continued growth and more widespread acceptance of medical and recreational marijuana as legal in the United States, the cosmetic industry is having to grapple with both the confusing Federal stance as well as what is legal from state to state in order to set a course for legally marketing CBD-based cosmetics from Cannabidiol and Hemp Oil for personal care across the United States.

Join MoFo partner William Tarantino for his presentation “Walking the Tightrope: The Rules Governing Canabis-Derived Ingredients in Cosmetics” during the Beauty Industry West Luncheon Meeting on Tuesday April 9 , 2019 in Los Angeles, California. He will discuss the impact of the 2018 Farm Bill which, among other things, legalizes the production and transport of hemp and hemp-derived CBD products.
