Miriam Wugmeister, Julie O’Neill, Nathan Taylor, and Hayley Curry authored a chapter for the GDR Insight Handbook 2020 that covers privacy laws in the United States.
The authors note that the U.S. approach to privacy laws “stands in sharp contrast to the approach found in over 100 other countries…that have adopted omnibus privacy laws,” discuss why the U.S. approach is so different, and break down the different laws and regulations at the federal and state levels of government.
