Chiraag Shah, Pietro Grassi, and Ziqi Qi authored an article for the Kluwer Arbitration Blog that discusses Macau’s New Arbitration Law, which unifies the laws governing domestic and international arbitrations seated in Macau and implements practices and standards in accordance with the UNCITRAL Model Law.
“The enactment of the New Arbitration Law is an important step for Macau’s development into a viable and preferred seat of arbitration between Chinese- and Portuguese-speaking parties,” the authors wrote, but noted that “there remain gaps in its legislative setting that are yet to be closed.”
