M&A Process Evolves Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

Michael O’Bryan spoke to PlanAdviser about how the COVID-19 pandemic is affecting M&A activity and its likely impact on deal volume in the coming months.

Michael says that there are many transactions currently in the interm stages, with deals signed but mergers incomplete, suggesting that while the negotiation and signing of these deals may slow significantly, he expects that they will more or less continue as envisioned.

“If you have already inked a deal, you are still governed by what is in those acquisition agreements,” according to Michael. “Of course, what has happened to the parties in the interim period very well may change how they feel about the deals they are now locked into, but that doesn’t mean they will have an easy way out.”
