John Carlin was featured in Legaltech News and Law.com discussing the speed at which companies respond to a cyber-event risk that can impact investigations.
John indicated that while companies do need to be deliberate about the actions they take with regards to a breach or suspicious network activity, the speed at which a response unfolds will likely be a “risk calculus.” For example, a bad actor may not just be siphoning data, but also spreading ransomware throughout a network.
“If you tip them before they have deployed, that can cause them to detonate the ransomware, and you might not be ready at that point. And so it can cause enormous harm to the company,” John said.
