Kristen Mathews spoke to Law360 regarding the California Privacy Protection Agency (CPPA) now being able to enforce the rules it’s created under the state’s data protection law. The regulations were finalized in March 2023, giving companies nearly a year of lead time to prepare for the CPPA’s impending enforcement.
“Fortunately, businesses have had the regulations in hand for almost a year, and in my experience most have already prepared,” said Kristen. For businesses that "have largely prepared and merely want to conduct a last-minute check" of their compliance, Kristen recommended several items for these entities to review "now that the CPPA has been let out of the gate."
